Course overview

Electro Technical Officers are entrusted with the crucial responsibility of maintaining and repairing all electrical and electronic equipment, installations, and machinery on a ship, including radio communications and electronic navigation aids

The Electro Technical Officer (ETO) programme is a 1-year course designed by industry leaders in accordance with global standards. It consists of a 4-month on-shore training course followed by 8 months of shipboard training.

Eligibility criteria

Qualification

10+2

from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects

Minimum %

50% in English in 10th/12th standard

3-year diploma OR 4-year degree (including lateral entry) recognised by any State or Central Government or the AICTE

55% in in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication / Communication Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation or equivalent

Age: Maximum 25 years

Application process

Online application form

Candidates must apply for the ETO course via an online application form and pay an application fee. Candidates will receive further instructions from the institute's admissions office.

Online test

Candidates will receive an email containing a link to an online examination. Since the test links are sent out in batches, candidates are advised to regularly check their email and add academy@greatship.com to their contact list to prevent emails being diverted to their spam folder. After all candidates take the test, the admissions team will determine the cut-off score. Candidates who meet or exceed the cut-off score will be invited for an interview.

Personal interview

Candidates who meet the cut-off score in the online test will be invited for an interview at the GEIMS campus in Lonavala.

Medical test

Candidates who are shortlisted after the personal interview are required to undergo a comprehensive medical examination in Mumbai, in accordance with the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000. Details regarding the medical assessment will be provided by the admissions team.

Final selection

The final merit list is decided based on academic scores, online test scores, personal interview, and the medical test. Once selected, candidates are required to pay a non-refundable booking amount within the specified deadline to secure their seat.

Sponsorship letter

On receipt of the booking amount, the candidate will be issued a sponsorship letter with all the details.

Joining formalities

If candidates wish to avail a loan, they are advised to complete the necessary procedures prior to the joining date. On the day of joining, candidates should carry all the required documents, including their educational certificates, passport, and photographs.
