Navigating officers play a crucial role on board a ship — they are responsible for piloting and steering the vessel safely towards its destination. The Diploma in Nautical Science(DNS) programme has been specifically created by industry professionals to groom and create globally employable navigating officers. The first part consists of a 12-month pre-sea training course conducted on shore, followed by 18 months of structured shipboard training. After completing the training, students are eligible to appear for the B.Sc. (Nautical Science) examination affiliated to Indian Maritime University (IMU) and recognised by D. G. Shipping.

Candidates will receive an email containing a link to an online examination. Since the test links are sent out in batches, candidates are advised to regularly check their email and add firstname.lastname@example.org to their contact list to prevent emails being diverted to their spam folder. After all the candidates take the test, the admissions team will determine the cut-off score. Candidates who meet or exceed the cut-off score will be invited for an interview.
Shortlisted candidates are required to take the Combined Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Indian Maritime University (IMU). For further details about IMU-CET, please visit www.imu.edu.in.
Candidates who meet the cut-off score in the online test and other criteria, if any, will be invited for an interview at the GEIMS campus in Lonavala.
Candidates who are shortlisted after the personal interview are required to undergo a comprehensive medical examination in Mumbai, in accordance with the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000. Details regarding the medical assessment will be provided by the admissions team.
The final merit list is decided based on academic scores, online test scores, personal interview, and the medical test. Once selected, candidates are required to pay a non-refundable booking amount within the specified deadline to secure their seat.
On receipt of the booking amount, the candidate will be issued a sponsorship letter with all the details.
If candidates wish to avail a loan, they are advised to complete the necessary procedures prior to the joining date.
